What Is an Evening Intensive Outpatient Program?
An intensive outpatient program, or IOP, is a treatment and recovery option used for those who would benefit from regular visits to a treatment facility but cannot attend during the day. Woodland Recovery Center’s evening IOP sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday between 5:30 and 8:30 PM. Generally, this schedule will include nine hours spread across multiple days in the week. Woodland Recovery Center’s evening IOP offers a variety of therapeutic services and treatment sessions. All the treatments during IOP are given to patients based on clinical assessments done for anyone seeking treatment. The services and treatments we offer include:
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- Co-occurring disorder treatment
- Medication-assisted treatment
- Psychiatric services
- Medical care
We conduct clinical assessments for everyone which means individual sessions are determined by each patient’s unique treatment plan.
Once you complete your session you travel back home and return for the next scheduled time. It’s a great way to focus on recovery for those who don’t need inpatient care, one that can fit around your daily life.
What to Expect in Our Evening IOP in Mississippi
Individual Therapy
One-on-one sessions with Woodland Recovery Center’s counselors provide the opportunity for patients to address the underlying causes of the addiction.
These sessions allow patients to privately discuss issues that they may be uncomfortable sharing in a group setting. This is a form of therapy that is often used as one point in a dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) program but can also be used for other treatments, depending on the diagnosis.
Group Therapy
Group therapy sessions allow peers to share success stories and useful coping mechanisms as well as receive support during difficult points in their recovery journey. Group sessions help to remind each patient that they are not alone in their struggle to overcome addiction.
Like individual therapy, group therapy is incorporated into DBT but can function outside of the DBT structure as well.
When utilizing group therapy, patients will meet up with others who are in treatment and go through a therapy session guided by a professional. It can often include simple exercises like talking about things that worry you and/or listening to others and supporting their recovery.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is one of the most effective therapeutic tools used in addiction treatment. This evidence-based psychotherapy format helps patients to learn new ways to react to stress and handle cravings, and therapy sessions help them to discard unhealthy ways of thinking and behaving in favor of thought and behavior patterns that support sobriety.
DBT is a comprehensive and holistic approach to therapy that has been researched and practiced for years. It is expertly planned to help move through a patient’s many thoughts and emotions, and even focuses on the external, social aspect of recovery.
There are four main stages to DBT: practicing mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Each one breaks down further into more complex treatments.
Utilizing DBT allows us to approach those in recovery from an emotional and mental standpoint. It’s a form of therapy designed to give tools to help with long-term recovery, tools you can carry with you everywhere.
Psychiatric Services
Those who attend our intensive outpatient rehab program will go through a professional medical assessment, if recommended by the therapists, to ensure we are accurately diagnosing the situation
Our psychiatric services use these clinical assessments plus prescription services to handle medication management and ensure each patient is progressing through their treatment plan.
When you visit Woodland Recovery Center for each scheduled IOP session, we focus on maintaining balance and the forward momentum of recovery.
Medical Services and Medication Monitoring
Patients attending evening IOP sessions will have access to medical services to monitor medication effectiveness and any other health issues that might present a challenge to well-being or sobriety.
